OVER 20 people cooking and helping me to make this possible.

OVER 30 different dishes to be served for lunch at work.

OVER 200 people donating and buying food.

OVER 600£ (around 750€) raised with everyone contributions.

and I AM OVER THE MOON with the kindness of the people that I work with.

When I felt powerless about what happened with the wildfires in Portugal, I felt a need to contribute somehow.

And because Booking.com gives me the pleasure to work with such generous people, in less than 1 week it was possible to organize a very successful fundraising lunch. Portuguese people together for our country; colleagues from all over the globe who have nothing to do with Portugal; some would come from countries with their own battles and needs; some don't even know me - and there was still space in their hearts to help me to help my country.

I truly believe in one of the Booking.com values: diversity gives us strength. And I couldn't be prouder to work with them. 

OBRIGADO. To every single of my colleagues at Booking.com Cambridge Office who offered food, time, efforts, encouragement, support, pounds, and kindness. 

(I'm transferring all the money collected to the Portuguese Red Cross charity account by the end of this week to support the victims of the recent deadly wildfires in Portugal. If anyone wants to support somehow, just reach out to me).

MAIS DE 20 pessoas a cozinhar e ajudar a tornar isto possível.

e eu estou NAS NUVENS com a bondade das pessoas com quem trabalho.

Quando me senti impotente com a situação dos fogos em Pedrogão Grande em Portugal, senti uma necessidade de ajudar de alguma forma.

E porque a Booking.com me dá o prazer de trabalhar com pessoas generosas, em menos de uma semana, foi possível organizar um muito bem sucedido almoço de angariação de fundos. Portugueses juntos pelo nosso país; colegas de todo o mundo que nada têm a ver com Portugal; alguns virão de países com as suas próprias batalhas e necessidades; alguns nem sequer me conhecem - e ainda há espaço nos seus corações para me ajudar a ajudar o meu país.

Eu acredito de verdade num dos valores da Booking.com: diversidade dá-nos força. E eu não poderia estar mais orgulhosa de trabalhar com eles.

OBRIGADO. A cada um dos meus colegas da Booking.com no escritório de Cambridge que ofereceu, comida, tempo, esforço, incentivo, apoio, dinheiro e bondade.

Back to blogging - After 2 years and 1 day

I've been missing writing for a while. But life is happening and not much time left to write. And I've just realized that it's been 2 years and 1 day since I posted for the last time.

Any day is as good as any other to start something that you like to do. With more time I'll write about what I've been doing that keeps me so busy, why I want to write again and who I am now.

When I created this blog the intention was to keep me connected with Portugal and share my experience with others. At the beginning, I intended to improve my English, to find a job that makes me happy, to tell my adventures and learnings and eventually to become a Little Mary a bit more grown up.

I've changed. My intention with the blog changed. My English too. The way I see life maybe even more. The world changed to me. And I'm living one of the best times of my life - finding new ways every day to love, nourish and look after myself. But I'm still the same energetic little girl in love with life and passioned about people.

I've discovered during this time that the thing I love the most is dancing (kizomba started all that, and recently bachata and salsa got my heart too). But that would be a whole new post. That keeps me busy most of my nights.

I also realized how I much I enjoy seeing life upside down. So when I'm not working or dancing, I'm pretending that I know cool yoga poses and doing handstands attempts. And posting online my failings.

Há algum tempo que andava com vontade de voltar a escreve. Mas a vida vai acontecendo e não deixa muito tempo para escrever. E acabei de me aperceber que passaram 2 anos e 1 dia desde que publiquei aqui pela última vez.

Qualquer dia é bom para re-começar algo que gostamos de fazer. Com mais tempo vou escrever sobre o que tenho feito que me mantém tão ocupada, porque quero escrever novamente e quem sou eu agora.

Quando criei este blog a intenção era manter-me conectada a Portugal e partilhar a minha experiência. No início queria melhorar o meu inglês, encontrar um trabalho que me fizesse feliz, contar as minhas aventuras e aprendizagens e, eventualmente, tornar-me uma Little Mary um pouco mais crescida.

Eu mudei. A minha intenção com o blog mudou. O meu inglês também. O modo como eu vejo a vida talvez ainda mais. O mundo mudou para mim. E eu estou a viver um dos melhores momentos da minha vida - a encontrar novos caminhos todos os dias para me amar e cuidar. Mas eu ainda sou a mesma miúda enérgica apaixonada pela vida e pelas pessoas.

Descobri durante este tempo que o que mais gosto é dançar (kizomba começou tudo, mas recentemente a bachata e a salsa também me assaltaram o meu coração). Mas isso dava para um posto completo. E é isso que me mantém ocupada a maioria das noites.

Também aprendi o quanto eu gosto de ver a vida de pernas para o ar. Então, quando não estou a trabalhar ou a dançar, estou a fingir que sei poses de yoga e a fazer tentativas de pinos. E a postar online as minhas falhas.

É tudo por agora. É bom estar de volta.
