When you decide to be Au Pair and you live away from your home, family and friends, is good to find a nice and kind family. But what is also nice is to make some friends. Because you don't want to be all about work and your host family; you need other people with your age to go out, to complaint about your job, to talk about missing home, to do things together.
And lucky me ... I already have some friends! :)
Before leaving, Tereza introduced me Eva, Doreen and Lena (but Lena not so well, only a glance).
I used to meet with Eva and Doreen to do some things, like going to Costa, going to running club, joining to have breakfast. And now the group is growing. Now I meet properly Lena and Jill. And sometimes I go with Eva to Evana house for a coffee and breakfast.
Evana is Czech and used to be Tereza's friend, like Eva. But Eva is Slovak. Doreen, Lena and Jill they are from germany. And I'm from Portugal! We all, except Evana which is a married mother of two), are au pairs in Kings Hill and are aged between 18-27.
We are trying to do something on Wednesdays mornings. I use to go to running club at 12h, so before that we are trying to have breakfast together. But breakfast with chatting, cooking, baking and eating. But it could not happen yet, but it'll someday! ahah
And then, they join me to go to the running club (when they can do it).
Last saturday, 22nd November, me, Eva, Lena and Jill (Doreen was in London with some friends from Germany), went to Maidstone for a girls all day out! In the morning we made some christmas shopping (which was a sucessful thing for me!), than we went to cinema to see The Mockingjay. Our first time in a cinema in England! I was a bit affraid about understanding everything without English subtitles, but it was ok! And I loved the movie! But cinema here is sooooo expensive! It was 11£, which is about 14€. In portugal we pay about 6€ (and many people have half price cards).
After the movie, we went to Lidl!!! Because my german friends wanted to feel like home ... and actually, I felt the same because in Portugal I used to go to Lidl! :P
Then some more shoppings, before going to a pub to eat and drink something.
It was a full and nice day!
Today, sunday, it was a day to rest at home.

Porque não pode ser tudo sobre trabalho e família de acolhimento; também precisamos de outras pessoas da nossa idade para sair, reclamar sobre o trabalho, conversar sobre as saudades e tantas coisas, para fazer coisas juntos, etc!

Antes de se ir embora, a Tereza apresentou a Eva, a Doreen e a Lena (mas Lena não tão bem, foi apenas de passagem).
Costumo encontrar-me com a Eva e a Doreen para fazer algumas coisas, como ir ao Costa, ir ao running club, tomar o pequeno-almoço. Mas agora o grupo está a crescer. Agora já conheço melhor a Lena e também a Jill. E às vezes vou com Eva a casa da Evana para um café e pequeno-almoço.
A Evana é Checa e era amiga de Tereza, tal como a Eva. Mas a Eva é Eslovaca. A Doreen, a Lena e a Jill são da Alemanha. E eu sou de Portugal! Somos todas, excepto a Evana que é casada e mãe de dois filhos), au pairs em Kings Hill e temos idades entre os 18-27.
Estamos a tentar implementar uma coisa às quartas-feiras de manhã. Eu costumo ir ao clube de corrida às 12h, e antes nós tentamos tomar o pequeno-almoço juntas. Mas um pequeno-almoço com direito a conversa, cozinhar, fazer bolos e comer! Quer dizer, ainda não aconteceu, mas vai acontecer um dia! ahah
E depois elas juntam-se a mim para ir ao clube de corrida (quando podem).
No sábado, 22 de novembro, eu, a Eva, a Lena e a Jill (a Doreen estava em Londres com uns amigos da Alemanha), fomos a Maidstone para um dia de meninas! De manhã fizemos algumas compras de Natal (que foi super útil para mim!), depois fomos ao cinema ver o novo filme de Hunger Games. A nossa primeira vez num cinema em Inglaterra! Eu estava com um bocado de receio se ia perceber tudo, por ser sem legendas em inglês, mas foi ok! E eu gostei muito do filme! Mas o cinema aqui é tãoooo caro! Foi 11£, que é cerca de 14 €. Em Portugal pagamos cerca de 6€ (e muitas pessoas têm cartão para pagar metade do preço!).
Depois do filme, fomos ao Lidl !!! As minhas amigas alemãs queriam sentir-se em casa ... e na verdade, eu senti o mesmo, porque em Portugal eu costumava ir ao Lidl! : P
Depois, mais algumas compras, antes de irmos a um pub para comer e beber alguma coisa.
Foi um dia em cheio!
Hoje, domingo, foi um dia para descansar em casa.

Bloody hell address proof
Last week I went to my boys school and volunteered myself to help teachers in classes. They always ask parents to do that and for me is a way to have job experience. They were happy with that but to work with kids I needed to do a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
And then started the drama with the bloody hell address proof. To ask for DBS I need an official address proof, like bills or bank letter. But it happens that to open a bank account or to make any contract to have bills to pay I need ... guess what ... an address proof.
We called to a few banks, and they all said that I would need an address proof to open a basic account. I tried to ask my bank in Portugal to send me a letter but ... I needed to change first my address and for that I needed an official address proof. I applied in local general practitioner to receive a letter confirming, but it can take a few months to be completed.
AHHHHHHHHHHH! For god sake! So I decided to ask what to do in some Au Pair Facebook groups that I'm a member, because I believe that some other people had the same problem. And they all said to try Lloyds Bank. I already had called them and they scheduled an interview with me for last friday morning, but asked me to bring an address proof; which I don't have, that's why I need this bank account - to proof my address to do a DBS! Well, the other au pairs said that they hadn't any problem, they just needed ID or a letter from host family saying that they were living together.
And so friday morning I went to Maidstone (where is the nearst Lloyds branch) to my interview at 12h. When I arrived, the supposed person to attend me wasn't there. Nice, so much trouble and no one there's for me? But the guy in the reception said "you have your ID with you? no problem!". And then they just asked me some questions and don't even asked for any letter, document or anything. They must think that I'm crazy because I was always saying "you don't need this?" "or this?". So, it was so simple as saying "I want to open a bank account, here's my ID. Thanks, goodbye". So, now I just have to wait for 5-7 work days to receive a letter with the card and I'll have my address proof!

Na semana passada voluntariei-me para ajudar os professores com as aulas, na minha escola dos meus miúdos. Eles precisam frequentemente de pais para fazer isso e para mim era uma forma de ganhar experiência de trabalho com crianças. Eles foram muito receptivos, mas para trabalhar com crianças eu preciso de fazer um DBS (uma espécie de registo criminal Inglês).
E então começou o drama do terrível comprovativo de morada. Para pedir o DBS preciso de um comprovativo de morada oficial, como contas para pagar ou uma carta do banco. Mas acontece que para abrir uma conta bancária ou fazer qualquer contrato (e ter contas para pagar) eu preciso ... adivinhem ... de um comprovativo de morada.
Ligámos para alguns bancos e todos disseram que eu precisava de um comprovativo de morada para abrir uma conta básica. Tentei pedir ao meu banco em Portugal para me enviar uma carta, mas ... preciso de mudar primeiro a minha morada e para isso eu preciso de um comprovativo de morada oficial. Inscrevi-me no centro de saúde local para receber uma carta a confirmar, mas isso é coisa para demorar alguns meses até estar concluído o processo e receber uma carta.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Haja paciênciaaaaa! Decidi perguntar o que havia de fazer em alguns grupos de facebook de Au Pair que eu frequento, porque não devia ser a primeira pessoa a ter este problema. E toda gente disse para tentar o Lloyds Bank. Eu já lhes tinha ligado antes e agendaram-me uma entrevista para a manhã de sexta feira, mas pediram-me para levar um comprovativo de morada; que eu não tenho, é por isso que eu preciso desta conta bancária - a prova da minha morada para fazer um DBS! Bem, as outras au pairs disseram que não tiveram qualquer problema, que só precisaram de BI ou uma carta da família a dizer que estavam a viver juntos.
E assim, na sexta-feira de manhã, fui a Maidstone (o balcão Lloyds mais próxima) para a minha entrevista às 12h. Quando cheguei, a suposta pessoa para me atender não estava lá. Bom, tantos problemas e não está aqui ninguém para mim? O rapaz na recepção disse "tens o seu BI contigo? Não há problema!". E então fizeram-me algumas perguntas e nem sequer me pediram a carta, algum documento ou qualquer coisa. Devem ter pensado que eu não jogo com o baralho todo, porque eu estava sempre dizer "e não é preciso isto?" "ou isto?". Então, foi tão simples como dizer "Eu quero abrir uma conta bancária, aqui está o meu BI. Obrigado, adeus".
Agora só tenho que esperar 5-7 dias úteis para receber uma carta com o cartão e já vou ter o meu comprovativo de morada!

International Meeting
Every friday night there's a International Meeting on a Starbucks in Tonbridge, which is very close to my little town.
Yesterday I went for the first time. Is not a meeting just for Au Pairs, but for everyone living around who wants to join and meet people from all over the world. So yesterday I decided to go and see how it is, it's a nice way to meet people and practise english - that's what I thought before going.
First I meet Romy, a portuguese girl that I meet on Facebook, and we went together. At the begin it was a bit awkward because most people know each other and they have their own groups. There was this nice boy, an English one, who spoke a lot with us, but everyone was into their own groups.
Then we went to a Pub, and it got a bit worst. We were many people and the pub (a huge pub) was full and we couldn't stay all together. But after a while, we started to speak with two spanish girls. They were very nice, and also au pairs. But we haven't spoken properly english, something like Spanglish lol
Maybe I'll go again next week, and it would be even more nice!

Todas as sextas-feiras há um encontro internacional num Starbucks em Tonbridge, que é muito perto de minha "cidade".
Fui ontem pela primeira vez. Não é um encontro apenas para Au Pairs; é para quem quiser participar e conhecer pessoas do mundo. Ontem decidi ir e ver como é, pois é uma boa maneira de conhecer pessoas e praticar Inglês - foi o que eu pensei antes de ir.
Primeiro encontrei-me com a Romy, uma rapariga portuguesa que eu conheci no Facebook e fomos juntas. No início foi um bocado estranho, porque a maioria das pessoas já se conheciam e tinham os seus próprios grupos. Havia um rapaz simpática, Inglês, que falou muito connosco, mas tirando isso estavam todos muito nos seus próprios grupos e conversas.
Depois fomos para um pub, e ele ficou um bocadinho mais estranho. Éramos muitas pessoas e o pub (um pub enorme , já agora) estava cheio e não dava para ficarmos todos juntos. Mas depois de um bocadinho, começamos a falar com as duas raparigas espanholas. Elas foram simpáticas e também au pairs. Mas não falamos propriamente Inglês, foi mais algo como Englinhol lol
Em principio vou na próxima semana, e pode ser que seja mais giro! :)

I found that actually I really enjoy to cook and baking, but it's hard for me to use portuguese recipes since the vocabulary (items, ingredients, verbs) are quite different. So I made this list for myself where I add words useful for cooking!

Best pancakes ever!
Today for dessert I made same pancakes and Euan, one of my little boys, said 'best pancakes ever!!!'.
David and Rory eat everything, but Euan never like anything. So this coming from him it's hugeeeeeee!

Driving in UK!
As you might know, in UK they drive on the left side of the road and on the right side of the car, the opposite of Portugal.
With my EU driving license I'm able to drive here buuuuuut ... I had never driven in UK. But for this job I need to drive because I need to drop off and pick up kids on their activities.
Other different thing here is about insurances. They have insurances for cars and for people. You can't drive you mother's car if she don't pay insurance also for you for that specific car. So Greg had to add my name to his insurance and then I was able to drive the car. First step done! yeah!
Next step: practise driving on the other side without kids in the car. I went with Greg three times for a small "driving lesson" so I can get used to it. The first one was just around Kings Hill, and the other two we went to a near city. I thought it would be harder. It's pretty much the same. You get used really fast. The only thing is that I always go with my right hand to change the gear, but then I punch the door and remember that I have to use the left one :P easy!
But there is a few differences (UK VS PT):
- Driving on the left lane VS Driving on the right lane
- Steering wheel on the right side VS Steering wheel on the left side
- Roundabouts by left VS Roundabouts by right
- Distance and speed limits in miles VS Distance and speed limits in Km
Maybe other more that I can remember know.
And since saturday, I already started driving on my own! :D

Como devem saber, no Reino Unido conduz-se no lado esquerdo da estrada e no lado direito do carro; o oposto de Portugal.
Com a minha carta de condução da UE eu estou autorizada a conduzir aqui maaaaaaas ... Eu nunca tinha conduzido no Reino Unido. Para este trabalho eu preciso de conduzir porque preciso levar e ir buscar os miúdos.
Outra coisa diferente aqui é o seguro do carro. Eles têm seguros para carros e para as pessoas. Por exemplo, não podes conduzir o carro da tua mãe se ela não pagar um seguro também para ti. Então o Greg teve que adicionar o meu nome ao seu seguro. Primeiro passo feito! yeah!
Próxima etapa: praticar a condução do outro lado, sem crianças no carro. Fui com o Greg três vezes para uma pequena "aula de condução" para eu me habituar. O primeiro foi aqui em Kings Hill, e nos outros dois fomos a uma cidade próxima. Eu pensei que ia ser mais difícil, mas é praticamente o mesmo. É fácil de nos habituarmos. A única coisa é que eu vou sempre com a minha mão direita para mudar a mudança, mas depois eu bato na porta e lembro-se que tenho que usar a esquerda :P fácil!
Mas há algumas diferenças (UK VS PT):
- Conduzir na faixa da esquerda VS Conduzir na faixa da direita
- Volante do lado direito VS Volante no lado esquerdo

On my own now!
Last wednesday, 5th November, Tereza (previous Marshalls family au pair) went back to her home in Czech. Since then, i'm on my own!
Before leaving, Tereza and family changed some goodbye gifts and some tears, which is normal, they lived together for more than 1 year. Aine said "it's not because we don't like you", and of course I totally understand that. They are nice people, it's ok to miss someone who lived with them. And Tereza also offered me a gift before leaving, a mug with vocabulary about baking, so useful and nice!! :) I love mugs, and I'm enjoying to cook and I need english vocabulary, so perfect gift!
Aine made a brunch for Tereza and some friends on Wednesday to say goodbye. It was like an international meeting: 2 Irish, 2 Czech, 1 Portuguese and 1 Slovak. Aine baked everything (carrot cake, irish bread, muffins, lemon cakes)
I have to thank Tereza for everything she taught me, it's now easier because I could stay here with her for two weeks. But it was time to do things only by myself, to create my routines. And let the adventure beginnnnn!
It have been nice to be here with them. They are a great family and make me feel like home.
My boys are busy busy boys. After school (and even on weekend) they have many activities. So we have always something to do. They are not naughty, they are respectful, polite, funny, cute, kind, but they are also kids ... so obviously they have their moments but it's quite easy to deal with them.
Rory was on holidays until yesterday, so I just comeback to school today. I had been here with him in the mornings, but now I have it also on my own (for some housework and some free time).
I use to eat what they eat, but sometimes I need something healthier (another post about that) and I cook something for myself. As I'm not a great Chef and I'm a beginner I have to try things. Other day, I wanted to not waste some vegetables out of date (but eatable), and I made this vegetables mix with soya souce and philadelphia. It was so yumyyy! And when I was writting this post, I made one wrap with veggies for my lunch. I'm starting being proud of my cookings :)
Last friday, 7th November, it was Aine's birthday. I don't know her so much to know what to offer her, and then I remeber to take a lovely picture of myself with boys. She told me she loved and that it was lovely. Hope she really liked, because I love the picture and I wanted to give something nice to her :)

Na última quarta-feira, 5 novembro, Tereza (a anterior au pair da família Marshall) voltou para casa na República Checa. E agora, eu estou por minha conta!
Antes de se ir embora, a Tereza e a família trocaram alguns presentes de despedida e algumas lágrimas. O que é normal, viveram juntos mais de um ano. A Aine disse-me "não é porque não gostamos de ti", e é claro que eu entendo perfeitamente isso. Eles são boas pessoas, é normal sentir falta de alguém que viveu com eles. A Tereza também me deu um presente, uma caneca com vocabulário sobre fazer bolos, e por isso, super útil e fixe!! :) Eu adoro canecas, estou a gostar de aprender a cozinhar e eu preciso de vocabulário Inglês: presente perfeito!
A Aine fez um brunch para a Tereza e algumas amigas na quarta-feira. Foi como um encontro internacional: 2 irlandesas, 2 Checas, 1 Portuguesa e 1 Eslovaca. A Aine cozinhou tudo (bolo de cenoura, pão irlandês, muffins, bolos de limão).
Tenho que agradecer à Tereza por tudo o que me ensinou. Foi mais fácil porque eu pude ficar aqui com ela duas semanas. Mas já estava na hora de fazer as coisas por mim mesma, de criar as minhas rotinas. E deixar a aventura começaaaaar!
Tem sido bom estar aqui com eles. Eles são uma família impecável e fazem-me sentir em casa.
Os meus miúdos são supeeeer ocupados. Depois da escola (e até mesmo ao fim de semana), têm muitas actividades. Portanto, temos sempre algo para fazer. Eles não são mal comportados, são respeitosos, educados, engraçados, queridos, simpáticos, mas eles também são miúdos ... então, obviamente, eles também têm os seus momentos, mas é muito fácil lidar com eles.
O Rory esteve de férias até ontem, e regressou à escola hoje. Tenho estado por aqui com ele no período da manhã, mas agora tenho esse tempo para mim (para algumas tarefas domésticas e algum tempo livre).
Eu costumo comer o que eles comem, mas às vezes apetece-me algo mais saudável (outro post sobre isso) e cozinho para mim. Como eu não sou uma grande Chefe e sou novata eu tenho que experimentar coisas. No outro dia, eu queria aproveitar alguns legumes fora do prazo (mas comestíveis), e fiz um mix de legumes com molho de soja e filadélfia. Ficou tão yumyyy! E enquanto estava a escrever este post, fiz um wrap com legumes para o meu almoço. Estou a começar a ficar orgulhosa dos meus cozinhados :)
Na sexta-feira passada, 7 de novembro, foi o aniversário de Aine. Eu ainda não sei muito sobre ela para saber o que lhe oferecer, e então lembrei-me de tirar uma foto gira com os miúdos. Ela disse que tinha gostado muito e que era adorável. Espero que tenha mesmo gostado, porque eu gosto muito da fotografia e eu queria dar-lhe algo simpático :)
Before leaving, Tereza and family changed some goodbye gifts and some tears, which is normal, they lived together for more than 1 year. Aine said "it's not because we don't like you", and of course I totally understand that. They are nice people, it's ok to miss someone who lived with them. And Tereza also offered me a gift before leaving, a mug with vocabulary about baking, so useful and nice!! :) I love mugs, and I'm enjoying to cook and I need english vocabulary, so perfect gift!
Aine made a brunch for Tereza and some friends on Wednesday to say goodbye. It was like an international meeting: 2 Irish, 2 Czech, 1 Portuguese and 1 Slovak. Aine baked everything (carrot cake, irish bread, muffins, lemon cakes)
I have to thank Tereza for everything she taught me, it's now easier because I could stay here with her for two weeks. But it was time to do things only by myself, to create my routines. And let the adventure beginnnnn!
It have been nice to be here with them. They are a great family and make me feel like home.
My boys are busy busy boys. After school (and even on weekend) they have many activities. So we have always something to do. They are not naughty, they are respectful, polite, funny, cute, kind, but they are also kids ... so obviously they have their moments but it's quite easy to deal with them.
Rory was on holidays until yesterday, so I just comeback to school today. I had been here with him in the mornings, but now I have it also on my own (for some housework and some free time).

From Portugal with love!
When Tiago came, he brought me a bag that I packed before leaving Portugal. And my mum added some gifts to my host family. So monday night, 3rd November, I gave them the presents. They were very happy, I think :)
I'm glad my mum did that, because I really like Marshalls family!

Quando o Tiago veio cá, trouxe uma mala que eu tinha deixado arrumada antes de vir de Portugal. E a minha mãe acrescentou algumas presentes para minha família daqui. Então, na noite de segunda-feira, 03 de Novembro, dei-lhes os presentes. Eles ficaram felizes, acho eu! :)

First visit: Dear Boyfriend!
Last weekend was special. I was not here in Kings Hill, I went to London because my lovely boyfriend come to visit me! My first visit here :D
As Tereza (the previous au pair) was yet here, my host mum told me to go to London on Thursday night (when Tiago would arrive) and to comeback on Monday in the morning. And I did that. After 3 weeks away from portugal, it was nice to be again together for 3/4 days!
We booked a room on https://airbnb.com and stayed in a house not in the center, but pretty close.
We decided to not spend much money in transports, and walk and hire bikes instead.
On the first day we went to the National History Museum and we wanted to go to the Science Museum, but we were so much time on the first one that we were done with museums! Then we went to Harrods, then Hyde Park and then to Notting Hill. We couldn't find the bookshop from movie Notting Hill (if anyone knows where is, please tell me).
Then we had a "geek" night. Tiago is a great fan of Iron Maiden. They "born" at this pub called Cart and Horses in Maryland and we went there. It was nice, the decoration, the mood, the pub. We tried to find a trooper, the Iron Maiden Beer. But we couldn't find it in bottles. I have to find it for him :P
After that we decided to find a place for dinner, but in Maryland (being honest, everywhere in London) there's only junk and fried food. Everything smells to oil and don't give us willing to enter. So for 4 night in London, 3 dinners was pizza (it's sad!).
The second day, we went to camden town by bus, and then we rent bikes. We went to Kings Cross to see the Plataform 9 3/4. Huge queue to take pictures. And then we went to Camden Town to have lunch in that great markets. It's hard to decide what to eat. Then we took bikes again and cycle to Regents Park, Hyde Park and then we had problems with bikes and walked to Regents Street. Because we went to Hamleys :D My favourite shop in the world. And Tiago found this corner with things for great fans on The Lord of The Rings and we had our second "geek" time :P We looked like a kid on Christmas and bought one "one ring". We had a cinnabom in Picadilly Circus (which I love!), and had dinner in Leicester Square.
Our last day, Sunday, we couldn't hire bikes and it was raining. We went to Westminster (Big Ben, London Eye, etc.) and we had lunch near London Eye. We wanted to try Fish&Chips, but is so fried. It's not bad, but it's not also good. After walking a bit around, we caught a bus to Tower of London. But it was full of people, something about with poppies and Army.
About the bikes hiring sistem. It has a name: Barclays Cycle Hire.
I must say, it's amazing! But I also must say: if you are foreigner, maybe it's not so amazing. The sistem is like: you pay 2£ with a Visa card for 24 hours, and then you can hire bikes for journeys of 30 minutes. We have cycle point all over the city and you have to drop your bike every 30 minutes and wait 5 minutes to pick another. If you don't park your bike before 30 minutes, you have to pay 1£ extra. Which wouldn't be a problem, if you have a English Visa card. And our card is from Portugal. One of the journeys we couldn't find a Cycle Park, and when we found it was 39 minutes later, but we wouldn't mind to pay that 1£ extra, if it was just that. But after 24 hours, we paid 2£ more for another 24 hours and they accepted that payment, but right after we couldn't hir more bikes, thar card was rejected. We had to call them (which is expensive with portuguese mobile phone) and they said that they couldn't charge de £ extra for that 9 minutes, because our bank was refused, and that we needed to call our bank. We tried, but our bank didn't reply, and we weren't able to hire bikes after paying for it. We sent a complain, but they didn't refund our money or even replied. What could be a great way to move in London, it was a big trouble.
And on monday morning (about 7 am) we had to say "goodbye" again. But I'm going home in 6 weeks. I think it's "easier" to say "goodbye" when you know when you'll see each other again. So "see you soon, my love. and thank you! ❤"
O último fim de semana foi especial. Não estive em Kings Hill, fui para Londres, porque o meu querido namorado veio visitar-me! A minha primeira visita aqui :D
Como a Tereza (a au pair anterior) ainda estava aqui, a minha "host mum" disse-me para ir para Londres na quinta-feira à noite (quando Tiago chegava) e para voltar na segunda-feira de manhã. E eu fiz isso. Depois de três semanas longe de casa, é bom estarmos de novo juntos por 3/4 dias!
Reservamos um quarto no https://airbnb.com e ficámos numa casa não no centro, mas muito perto.
Decidimos não gastar muito dinheiro em transportes, mas sim andar e alugar bicicletas.
No primeiro dia fomos ao Museu de História Nacional e queríamos ir ao Museu da Ciência, mas ficámos demasiado tempo no primeiro que não nos apeteceu mais museus! Depois fomos ao Harrods, depois Hyde Park e depois Notting Hill. Não conseguimos encontrar a livraria do filme Notting Hill (se alguém souber onde é, diga-me).
E essa noite foi uma "geek" noite. O Tiago é um grande fã de Iron Maiden. Eles "nasceram" num pub chamado Cart and Horses, em Maryland, e nós fomos lá. Foi bom, a decoração, o clima, o pub, é muito giro! Tentámos encontrar uma Trooper, a cerveja de Iron Maiden. Mas não conseguimos encontrar em garrafa. Eu tenho que encontrar para ele :P
Depois disso decidimos procurar um lugar para jantar, mas em Maryland (honestamente, em todos os sítios em Londres) só há comida má e frita. Tudo cheira a óleo e não nos dá vontade de entrar. Assim, em 4 noites em Londres, 3 jantares foram pizza (é triste!).
No segundo dia, fomos a Camden Town por autocarro, e alugámos bicicletas. Fomos a Kings Cross para ver a Plataforma 9 3/4. Fila enorme para tirar fotos, óbvio. E depois fomos para Camden Town para almoçar naqueles mercados. É difícil decidir o que comer!! O Tiago encontrou um espaço com coisas para grandes fãs de Senhor dos Anéis e tivemos nossa segunda parte de "geekness": P Ele parecia uma criança no Natal e comprou um "one ring". Tenho que dizer, é incrível! Mas também tenho que dizer: se és estrangeiro, talvez não seja assim tão fixe. O que poderia ser uma ótima maneira de mover-se em Londres, foi um grande problema.
E na segunda-feira de manhã (cerca de 07:00) que tínhamos a dizer "adeus" novamente. Mas eu estou indo para casa em seis semanas. Eu acho que é "mais fácil" para dizer "adeus" quando você sabe quando você vai ver outra vez. Assim, "até breve, meu amor. E obrigado! ❤"

O Tiago encontrou um espaço com coisas para grandes fãs de Senhor dos Anéis e tivemos nossa segunda parte de "geekness": P Ele parecia uma criança no Natal e comprou um "one ring". Comemos um cinnabom em Picadilly Circus (que eu adoro!), E jantámos em Leicester Square.
No último dia, domingo, não podémos alugar bicicletas e estava a chover. Fomos para Westminster (Big Ben, London Eye, etc.) e almoçamos perto do London Eye. Queríamos experimentar Fish & Chips, mas é tudo tão frito. Não é mau, mas também não é bom. Depois de andarmos um bocado por ali à volta, apanhámos um autocarro para a Torre de Londres. Estava cheio de gente, alguma coisa a ver com umas papoilas e o Exército.
Sobre a o sistema de aluguer de bicicletas. Há um nome: Barclays Cycle Hire.
Tenho que dizer, é incrível! Mas também tenho que dizer: se és estrangeiro, talvez não seja assim tão fixe. O sistema é assim: tu pagas 2£ com um cartão Visa para 24 horas, e então podes alugar bicicletas para viagens de 30 minutos. Temos vários pontos de bicicletas por toda a cidade e tens que entregar a bicicleta a cada 30 minutos e esperar 5 minutos para alugar outra. Se não entregares antes de 30 minutos, tens que pagar 1£ extra. O que não seria um problema, se tivéssemos um cartão Visa Inglês. E o nosso cartão é de Portugal. Numa das viagens não conseguimos encontrar um parque de bicicletas a tempo, e quando descobrimos já passavam 39 minutos, o que não seria um problema pagar 1£ extra, se fosse só isso. Mas depois de 24 horas, pagamos 2£ por mais 24 horas e eles aceitaram o pagamento, mas logo a seguir apareceu um aviso a dizer que não podíamos alugar mais bicicletas, porque o cartão foi rejeitado. Tivemos que ligar (o que é caro com um telefone português) e eles disseram que não poderiam cobrar o 1£ extra dos tais 9 minutos, porque o nosso banco recusou, e precisávamos de ligar ao nosso banco. Tentámos, mas o nosso banco não respondeu e não pudemos alugar mais bicicletas depois de pagarmos por isso. Enviámos uma reclamação, mas eles não reembolsaram o nosso dinheiro nem responderam. O que poderia ser uma ótima maneira de mover-se em Londres, foi um grande problema.
E na segunda-feira de manhã (cerca de 07:00) que tínhamos a dizer "adeus" novamente. Mas eu estou indo para casa em seis semanas. Eu acho que é "mais fácil" para dizer "adeus" quando você sabe quando você vai ver outra vez. Assim, "até breve, meu amor. E obrigado! ❤"

Leeds Castle and Pumpkins Carving
Hello there!
This week boys are on half-term (which is holidays). They have a week of half-term every 5/6 weeks.
So we ha a busy week.
On Monday we went to Leeds Castle. And it's so amazing! It has so much green and a lake outside. A huge garden, with playgrounds and a maze. It's nice to have a pic nic, to spend a day with your family. Amazing to go with kids.
Tuesday, Tereza wanted to go to London with Euan and David, because she is living next week to Czech. And I stayed at home with Rory. It was a nice day, he is very friendly. We listened music on TV, we were cuddling in bed, we went for a long walk, we went to the park (which is a big adventure with Rory because he wants to climb everything) and we had fun together. I was ironing after that, and then skyping with my family, until my host family arriving at 23h.
Today in the morning, Aine offered me a hair dryer that she bought for me because I have this looooong hair. She is so nice! :) I went with her to drop off Eaun at Rondos (like football training), and then we went to West Malling so I could meet the town. In the afternoon I went with Tereza do Tonbridge to see where is the Friday nights international meetings at starbucks.
We bought 3 pumpkins so we could carve it for boys. They celebrate halloween and we needed sacry pumpkins to the front door.
It was the first time EVER that I saw a real carved pumpkin, so even more cool: it was the first time that I carved one! It's nice, and the result was awesome. But I get tired, and my arm is in pain! :P
And tomorrow I'll have my first visit after leaving Portugal. My boyfriend is so nice and he's coming to see me! :D And it was supposed to just be with him from friday night until sunday night, but Aine said me to go right tomorrow in the afternoon (Thursday!) and to comeback monday in the morning.
And I decided to do some exercise and I went looking for some classes. I found that in a primary school here, they have Zumba on Monday nights, and I just loveeeeeee Zumba! So next Monday I'll try. And again, it's a bit early, it's about 19:30h, and Aine said that I could go and that there's no problem with not being here that time.
They are so flexible and nice with me. I'm happy I found this family. The best I can do is to be here anytime for them. It's like a family, we just adapt our appointments and manage everyting.
Now, I'm going to sleep because tomorrow is a huge and great day :D

Olá!
Esta semana os rapazes estão no "half-term" (que são férias). Eles têm uma semana de férias a cada 5/6 semanas. Então foi uma semana ocupada.
Na 2ªf fomos aos Castelo de Leed. E é tão lindo! Tem tanto verde e um lado à volta. Um jardim enorme, com parques de brincar e um labirinto. É óptimo para fazer pic nics e para passar um dia em família. Espectacular para levar miúdos.
Na 3ªf, a Tereza quis ir a Londres com o Euan e o David, porque ela se vai embora na próxima semana para a República Checa. Eu fiquei em casa com o Rory. Foi um dia bom, ele é muito querido. Ouvimos musica na TV, estivemos na mimalhice na cama, fomos dar um grande passeio, fomos ao parque (o que é um problema com o Rory porque ele quer trepar tudo) e divertimo-nos juntos! Depois disso estive a passar a ferro e depois no Skype com a família, até a minha "host family" chegar a casa às 23h.
Hoje de manhã, a Aine ofereceu-me um secador to cabelo que ela comprou para mim porque tenho este cabelo enormeeeee! Ela é tão querida :) Eu fui com ela levar o Euan ao Rondos (que é tipo treinos de futebol) e depois fomos a West Malling para eu conhecer a vila. E à tarde fui com a Tereza a Tonbridge, para ver onde são os encontros internacionais de 6f à noite no Starbucks.
Trouxemos três abóboras para podermos escavar para os rapazes. Eles celebram o halloween e nós precisávamos de abóboras para a porta.
Foi a primeira vez de sempre que vim uma abóbora escavada real, e ainda mais fixe: a primeira vez que escavei uma! É fixe e o resultado é espectacular. Mas fiquei cansada e com o braço a doer! :P
Amanhã recebo a minha primeira visita desde que deixei Portugal. O meu namorado é super fixe e ele vem-me ver! :D Era suposto estar com eles desde 6f à noite até domingo à noite, mas a Aine disse para ir já amanhã (5f!!!) à tarde e voltar na 2f de manhã.
Decidi fazer algum exercicio por cá e andei à procura de aulas. Descobri que numa escola primária de cá, há Zumba às 2f à noite, e eu adorooooooo Zumba! Então na próxima 2f vou experimentar. E novamente, é um bocado cedo, por volta das 19:30h, e a Aine disse que eu podia ir e não havia problema com não estar por casa nessa altura.
Eles são tão flexíveis e simpáticos comigo. Estou feliz por ter encontrado esta família. O melhor que posso fazer é estar aqui para eles sempre que for precisa. É como numa família, adaptamo-nos aos compromissos uns dos outros.
E agora vou dormir porque amanhã espera-me um longe e grande dia :D

Marshall's Family Au Pair (New postcode: Kings Hill)
I have been a bit away, because I was busy learning and at the end of the day the will to write it's not great. My first sunday, and I let you here my first impressions of being Au Pair for Marshalls family.
They were so so so kind and great with me. When I arrive I had a little welcome box in my bedroom (a lovely room by the way). Thank you Aine, Greg, David, Euan and Rory! :)
These days are being a little different from the days that are coming. For now, there are two au pairs in this house: me and Tereza (the au pair before me). So we have to manage take care of kids and the house together. When she goes, it will be just me.
I'm learning with Tereza and I'm get used to their routines.
I already go with bonnie (the dog) for walks in the woods. She's a lovely and friendly Golden Retriever. And I'm giving baths in the evening to Rory.
We do the hoovering everyday, which is good to keep the house clean.
Last friday, Tereza and I went for a coffee - at Costa - with two other au pairs from here: Doreen (Germany) and Eva (Slovakia). It was nice to meet other people different from the family that you live with, and to meet people who works with other families. Tereza introduced us, and it's nice because when she leaves to Czech, I have other girls to meet.
This it was a different weekend, because my host parents (Aine and Greg) went on a honeymoon-weekend, and I stayed at home with Tereza to look after the boys.
On friday it was their last day before half-term (holidays from school), and we had a movies night with popcorns and kids movies! For me it will be better to watch movies with English subtitles because I can't understand everything just listening, but it didn't happen and I could understand almost everything. But well, it was a kids movie with talking dogs.
On Saturday Eva went to our house, so our boys had 3 au pairs that day, and no parents around. They were very excited! We went to a park, I was playing football with David. And in the evening, we played monopoly. I should say that Euan and David are soooooo cheaters.
Eva is thinking about attending English classes and to start to do some exercise here. Se we are managing to do that together. I would love to go to gym, but it's so expensive here! (About 90£, which is about 115€. autch!)
Today, Eva and Tereza took the boys to a rugby tournament (and David was the best player!) and I stayed at home with Rory and I did some housework also (like hooving, ironing, wash clothes, etc.).
Rory has Down Syndrome but is such a lovely boy, and very easy going. He can't speak, but he is able to explain what he wants or need. We had a lazy and lovely afternoon, and he loves to Skype. When I was talking with my family, boyfriend and friends, I climbed through me and was just there saying hello, smiling and staring. :) Then he pulled me to his bed, and he was there just playing with me looking at him. He likes attention.
I came here to practice my English, and before coming I thought that I was very bad with English. I changed my mind, and I can accept that I'm not that bad, just ok. But a few people here said me that my english is great (Greg thinks that I don't even need classes), which I can't understand. I'm not being modest, I really can't understand why they think that. Maybe other foreign speak worst? I don't know! Or maybe they are being nice :P
My boys, they all have teddys, but Euan's Stitch was shabby and he was very sad, so I sew it for him. And yet I learnt that word: sew is "coser".
And now, Aine and Greg already arrived at home, and they are all excited telling things about the weekend. And Aine brought a gift for me and Tereza for being here with boys. Well, it's our work, but it was lovely. Aine and Greg are great host parents. :)
After dinner we played UNO in family and chatted at the table.
I'm happy here!

Tenho estado um pouco ausente, mas estive ocupada a aprender coisas e ao final do dia a vontade de escrever não é muita. Hoje é o meu primeiro domingo, e deixo-vos as primeiras impressões de como é ser Au Pair na família Marshall.
Eles foram tãooooooo queridos com comigo. Quando cheguei tinha uma caixinha de boas vindas no meu quarto (um quarto amoroso, já agora). Obrigada Aine, Greg, David, Euan e Rory! :)
Estes dias têm sido diferentes dos dias que aí vêm. Por agora, somos duas au pairs nesta casa: eu e a Tereza (a au pair antes de mim). Então temos que nos organizar para tomar conta dos miúdos e da casa juntas. Quando ela se for embora, vou ser só eu.
Estou a aprendar com a Tereza e a habituar-me às rotinas deles.
Já vou passear a bonnie (a cadela) no "bosque". Ela é uma amorosa e muito simpática Golden Retriever. E já dou banhos à noite ao Rory!
Nós aspiramos todos os dias, o que é óptimo para manter a casa limpa.
Na sexta-feira, a Tereza e eu fomos tomar café - no Costa - com outras duas au pairs daqui: Doreen (Alemanha) e Eva (Eslováquia). É bom conhecer outras pessoas diferentes da família com quem estamos a viver, e conhecer pessoas que trabalham com outras famílias. A Tereza apresentou-nos e é bom porque quando ela voltar para a Republica Checa tenho outras raparigas para fazer coisas.
Este fim de semana foi diferente, porque os meus "pais anfitriões" (Aine e Greg) foram num fim-de-semana-lua-de-mel, e eu fiquei em casa com a Tereza para tomarmos conta dos rapazes.
A sexta-feira foi o último dia antes das férias da escola e nós tivemos uma noite de filmes com pipocas e filmes de crianças! Para mim era melhor se víssemos filmes com legendas em Inglês porque não consigo perceber tudo só a ouvir, mas não foi possível e consegui perceber quase tudo. Mas ok, era um filme de miúdos com cães falantes.
No sábado a Eva veio para nossa casa, então os nossos rapazes tinham 3 au pairs nesse dia, e sem pais por perto. Eles estavam todos entusiasmados! Nós fomos ao parque, estive a jogar futebol com o David. E à noite jogámos Monopoly. O Euan e o David são tãooo batoteiros!
A Eva está a pensar ter aulas de Inglês e começar a fazer exercício aqui. Então estamos a pensar organizar-nos para o fazermos juntas. Eu adorava ir para o ginásio, mas é tão caro aqui! (À volta de 90£ libras, que é à volta de 115€. autch!).
Hoje, a Eva e a Tereza levaram os rapazes para o torneio de rugby (o David foi o melhor jogador!) e eu fiquei em casa com o Rory e fiz algumas coisas na casa (como aspirar, passar a ferro, lavar roupa, etc.). O Rory tem Sindrome de Down e é um rapaz super amoroso e muito fácil de lidar. Ele não fala, mas explica bem o que quer ou precisa. Tivemos uma tarde boa e preguiçosa, e ele adora falar no skype. Quando eu estava a falar com a minha família, com o meu namorado e com amigos, ele subia para cima de mim e ficava ali a dizer Olá, a sorrir e a olhar. :) E depois puxou-me para a cama dele, e ficou lá entretido a brincar enquanto eu olhava para ele. Ele adora atenção.
Eu vim para cá para praticar Inglês, e antes de vir eu pensava que era péssima com isso. Já mudei de ideias e aceito que não sou assim tão má, só ok. Mas algumas pessoas por cá já me disseram que o meu Inglês é óptimo (o Greg acha que eu não preciso de aulas) o que eu não consigo entender. Eu não estou a ser modesta, eu não consigo mesmo enteder. Se calhar há outros estrangeiros a falar pior? Eu não sei! Pode ser simpatia :P
Os meus rapazes têm peluches, mas o Stitch do Euan estava roto e ele estava muito triste. Então cosi o boneco para ele. E aprendi que "coser" é sew.
E agora, a Aine e o Greg chegaram a casa e toda gente estava excitada a contar novidades sobre o fim de semana. E a Aine trouxe um presentinho para me e para a Tereza por ficarmos com os miudos. Bom, é o nosso trabalho, mas foi amoroso. A Aine e o Greg são uns óptimos "pais anfitriões" (tenho de arranjar uma palavra melhor em português para isto). :)
Depois do jantar jogámos UNO em família e conversámos à mesa.

No sábado a Eva veio para nossa casa, então os nossos rapazes tinham 3 au pairs nesse dia, e sem pais por perto. Eles estavam todos entusiasmados! Nós fomos ao parque, estive a jogar futebol com o David. E à noite jogámos Monopoly. O Euan e o David são tãooo batoteiros!
A Eva está a pensar ter aulas de Inglês e começar a fazer exercício aqui. Então estamos a pensar organizar-nos para o fazermos juntas. Eu adorava ir para o ginásio, mas é tão caro aqui! (À volta de 90£ libras, que é à volta de 115€. autch!).
Hoje, a Eva e a Tereza levaram os rapazes para o torneio de rugby (o David foi o melhor jogador!) e eu fiquei em casa com o Rory e fiz algumas coisas na casa (como aspirar, passar a ferro, lavar roupa, etc.). O Rory tem Sindrome de Down e é um rapaz super amoroso e muito fácil de lidar. Ele não fala, mas explica bem o que quer ou precisa. Tivemos uma tarde boa e preguiçosa, e ele adora falar no skype. Quando eu estava a falar com a minha família, com o meu namorado e com amigos, ele subia para cima de mim e ficava ali a dizer Olá, a sorrir e a olhar. :) E depois puxou-me para a cama dele, e ficou lá entretido a brincar enquanto eu olhava para ele. Ele adora atenção.
Eu vim para cá para praticar Inglês, e antes de vir eu pensava que era péssima com isso. Já mudei de ideias e aceito que não sou assim tão má, só ok. Mas algumas pessoas por cá já me disseram que o meu Inglês é óptimo (o Greg acha que eu não preciso de aulas) o que eu não consigo entender. Eu não estou a ser modesta, eu não consigo mesmo enteder. Se calhar há outros estrangeiros a falar pior? Eu não sei! Pode ser simpatia :P
Os meus rapazes têm peluches, mas o Stitch do Euan estava roto e ele estava muito triste. Então cosi o boneco para ele. E aprendi que "coser" é sew.
E agora, a Aine e o Greg chegaram a casa e toda gente estava excitada a contar novidades sobre o fim de semana. E a Aine trouxe um presentinho para me e para a Tereza por ficarmos com os miudos. Bom, é o nosso trabalho, mas foi amoroso. A Aine e o Greg são uns óptimos "pais anfitriões" (tenho de arranjar uma palavra melhor em português para isto). :)
Depois do jantar jogámos UNO em família e conversámos à mesa.

Goodbye London
Tonight it's my last night in London, with Ricardo and João (Kim it's not here today). And I decided to cook for them (again). I made this Chicken cubes with rice and for dessert an apple pie!
João said it was the best apple pie he ever ate! :D
He is a great friend of mine from University, and Ricardo and Kim are his roomates. When I come to London, to go after my happiness and job and to improve my English, they let me stay around. After two weeks, it's time to go.
Tomorrow I'll start my new life, with my new family and my new job! I'll go to Kings Hill, Kent, to be the new Au Pair for Marshall Family.
João, Ricardo and Kim, you were great! It was a pleasure.

Hoje é a minha última noite em Londres, com o Ricardo e o João (a Kim não está hoje). E decidi cozinhar para eles (de novo). Fiz cubinhos de frango com arroz e tarte de maçã para a sobremesa.
O João diz que é a melhor tarte de maçã que já comeu! :D
Ele é um grande amigo meu da faculdade, e o Ricardo e a Kim são os seus colegas de casa. Quando eu vim para Londres, à procura de coisas que me façam feliz, de um trabalho e para aprender inglês, eles deixaram-me ficar por aqui. E passadas duas semanas, é altura de continuar.
Amanhã começo a minha nova vida, com a minha nova família e o meu novo trabalho. Vou para Kings Hill, em Kent, para ser a nova Au Pair da família Marshall.
João, Ricardo e Kim, foram espectaculares. Foi um prazer.

Happy sunday
This Sunday it was a bit different. There was a sunday family lunch in my home (Portugal) and I'm here away from them. But thankfully exists Skype, which makes a little bit easy to be far from our love ones.
We skyped and I was almost (just almost) there with them! :) It was nice to see them together.
And then I decided to bake. I made an orange pie! For the first time. Check the recipe.
Kim and Ricardo made the dinner (roasted chicken) and we ate all together like a family on sunday night!

Hyde Park - Photos experience
Today I decided to try my new camera (it was a goodbye-birthday gift from my granparents and my brothers). I picked it and went to Hyde Park to try some shoots.
I found interesting capture people behavior from distance, animals, nature, color contrast, activities, movements, zooming, shapes ...

Surprise dear hosts!
Today I decided to practice my cuisine skills and do a surprise to my sweet hosts (João, Ricardo and Kim)!
I went to Poundland, Iceland and Sainsbury's, and bought some stuffs.
And then I make Chicken breasts with cheese and ham, and Pancakes for dessert!
They said it was good :D

Hoje decidi praticar os meus dotes culinários (ou falta deles :P ) e fazer uma surpresa aos meus queridos anfitriões (João, Ricardo e Kim)!Fui ao Poundland, Iceland e Sainsbury's, e comprei umas coisas.

Got a job! And a family :)
As you might know, I came to UK to improve my English and also to "find myself". In search of an experience that fulfills me. I thought about being Au Pair, since I just love kids! Being Au Pair permits me to live with a family from here, and I that way I could learn more about their culture and speak English all the time. But more than that, since it's the first time I leave my family's house and I came alone to here, finding another family it's something that helps a lot.
Ok, now it's very important which host family I will work for, since I will live with them for about an year. I've been in contact with a few families. My family meet this one before I came (the very last night!). My family aproved, and we found Marshall family very nice! So, when I picked the plane, I already had a job and a family. I would just start at the end of the month but we agreed that I would visit them before that (yesterday) so we can meet in person.
So yesterday, October 13th, I took a bus to Victoria Station and then a train to West Malling (the railway station nearest them), and then Aine (the mum) was there to take me to Kings Hill. People in UK don't greet with 2 kisses on cheeks like in Portugal, and I didn't know how to greet them, so I waited. And Aine gave me one kiss and hugged me :)
We went to their home where was there Tereza, their current au pair. I offered them the cookies I made for them and they offered me tea. They got my heart that time! ahah It was very easy going, relaxed and a nice time. We talked about some practical situations, and agreed that I would start on October 22nd. Tereza leaves on November 5th, so I'll have a few days to get used to their rotine and learn everything.
I knew my future room, and actually my future house! The house is very warm and comfortable. They have a playroom!!! :D And a garden! One Cat, Thomas, and one dog, Bonnie (a golden retrevier). They are lovely and just love cuddles.
After some cookies, tea, and chatting for a while, Tereza and I went pick up kids at school. They were anxious to meet their new au pair (me). I'm their 5th Au Pair. Well, the first time I saw them .. wow! These kids are so cute and beautiful! It was a little bit hard to understand everything because they were talking with me a lot, and very fast. But I'll get used with time and practice. :)
So we have David, the older one. He's very mature for his age, 9, very responsible and he loves football (and sports in general!). He wants to play FIFA with me, and asked if I like Cristiano Ronaldo :P He has a shy, and lovely, smile.
Then, there's Euan. He is 8, and has a twin, Rory. He's more child, but not in a naughty way. He just likes to chat, play and walks a bit in the clouds ahah He loves loom bands and will do one pink with stars for me! Making him eat it's tough because he wants to chat e play, and we have to remember him to eat. When he smiles, he closes his eyes, and is very sweet!
And then, we have Rory, Euan twin. He has Down Syndrome, and is very kind. He loves teddys, like me!, and to hear music and watching TV. He hugged my arm and take me to the living room to watch TV. He smiles and waves a lot.
During the afternoon, Aine and I took the opportunity that I was there to take care of some subjects. She was so helpful and kind. She signed me at the GP (General Practitioner, which is like a family doctor), so I can have a address proof and then open a bank account. Then she told me about this card for youth that gives discounts traveling by train in England. It cost 30£, and now with the card many journeys costs half the price. Aine didnt' let me pay, and even pay my journey to visit them. I found it very attentive. I think that Aine feels responsible about me, what is comforting to know. For that card I needed a passport photo, so Aine tooke me to the supermarket to take pictures in a cabin. We spend the afternoon dealing with things and knowing the area. That is a beautiful place! A small town, very quiet, safe and calm and it looks like a movie. Only low and stone houses. And many green spaces.
Then she asked me about Christmas and told me that I can go home!! :)
Tereza told me about meetings with people in town, which is good to practice English, to meet people and to make friends. She will introduce me when I start there. And she used to attend English Classes in a local school, where maybe I would attend also. But it only starts in January I think. I have time to decide.
Oh I haven't told about cars and roads. When Aine picked me at the train station, I went to the right side of the car. It was the first time I was in a British car and I couldn't remember that it was on the opposite side. I'll have to drive, in fact I can use their car for personal purpose, and it will be an adventure to get used to the left side of the roads.
They dine so early! It was about 5.30/6 when Aine called us for Tea Time. A Tea Time with lasagna.
Oh, and yesterday I didn't meet Greg (father). He works in London and didn't arrive until I left.
Aine is from Ireland and Greg from Scotland, and they are a very nice couple!
And then, it was hour for children to do homeworks, and Tereza took me to the train station.
At the end of the day, I return to London with my heart full and and looking forward to start! They are so sweet, approachable and regardful. Just one week, and I'll be there.
Oh and I got two words of the day: cucumber (pepino) and scooter (which in PT is moto but there is a trotinete that every kid has).

E a minha familiar conheceu esta antes de eu ver (mesmo na última noite!). Eles aprovaram e eu achei a família Marshal muito fixe! Então quando apanhei o avião, eu já tinha uma família e um trabalho. Era para começar no final do mês, mas combinámos que eu iria visitá-los antes disso (ontem) para nos conhecermos pessoalmente.
Então ontem, 13 de Outubro, apanhei o autocarro para Victoria Station e depois um comboio para West Malling (a estação de comboios mais próxima deles), e depois a Aine (a mãe) estava à minha espera para me levar para Kings Hill. As pessoas por cá não se cumprimentam com 2 beijinhos como em Portugal, e eu não sabia como cumprimentá-la então fiquei à espera. E ela deu-me um beijinho e abraçou-me! :)
Fomos para casa deles onde estava a Tereza, a actual au pair. Eu ofereci as minhas bolachinhas e eles ofereceram-me chá. E conquistaram-me ahah Foi muito fácil de conversar, estava relaxada e foi um bom tempo. Falámos de algumas situações práticas e combinámos que eu começaria dia 22 de Outubro. A Tereza está lá até dia 5 de Novembro, então tenho alguns dias para me habituar e aprender tudo.
Conheci o meu futuro quarto e, bem, a minha futura casa! A casa é quente e agradável. E eles têm um quarto de brincar!! :D E um jardim. Um gato, Thomas, e uma cadela, Bonnie (um golden retrevier). Eles são amorosos e só querem festinhas.
Algumas bolachas, chá e conversa depois, eu e a Tereza fomos buscar os miúdos à escola. Eles estavam ansiosos para conhecer a nova au pair (eu). Já sou a 5ª au pair deles! Bem, e assim que os vi .. uau! Eles são tão queridos e giros!! Mas foi um bocado difícil perceber tudo, porque eles estavam a falar muito comigo e rápido. Mas com tempo e prática isto vai lá! :)
Então, temos o David, o mais velho. Ele é muito maturo para a idade dele, 9, é muito responsabel e adoro futebol (e desporto no geral). Ele quer que eu jogue FIFA com ele, e perguntou-me se gosto do Cristiano Ronaldo :P Ele tem um sorriso tímido, mas adorável.
Depois há o Euan. Ele tem 8 anos, e tem um gémeo, o Rory. Ele é mais criança, mas não de uma forma mal comportada. Ele apenas é mais brincalhão, gosta mais de falar e anda um bocado nas nuvens ahah Ele adora fazer pulseiras de elásticos e vai fazer-me uma cor de rosa com estrelas! Fazê-lo comer pode ser difícil porque ele só queria conversar e brincar, e temos que lembrá-lo de comer. Quando ele sorri, fecha muito os olhos, e é tão querido.
E depois temos o Rory, o gémeo do Euan. Ele tem Sindrome de Down e é muito amoroso. Ele adora peluches, como eu!, ouvir música e ver TV. Ele abraçou o meu braço e puxou-me para vermos televisão na sala. Ele sorri e acena muito.
Durante a tarde, eu e a Aine aproveitámos que eu lá estava para tratar de algumas coisas. Ela foi muito prestável e ajudou-me imenso. Inscreveu-me no GP (General Practitioner, que é tipo o médico de família), para eu puder ter uma prova de morada e então poder abrir uma conta no banco. Depois ela falou-me de um cartão para jovens que dá descontos em viagens de comboio em Inglaterra. Custou 30£ e agora com o cartão muitas viagens ficam a metade do preço! A Aine não me deixou pagar, e também pagou a minha viagem para os vir visitar. Achei muito atencioso. Acho que ela se sente responsável por mim, o que é reconfortante de saber. Para esse cartão eu precisei de fotos tipo passe e a Aine levou-me ao supermercado para tirar fotos numa cabine. Passámos a tarde a tratar de coisas e a conhecer ali a zona. Que é linda! É pequeno, super calmo, muito seguro, tranquilo e parece que estou num filme. Só casas baixas e de pedra, e muito verde por todo o lado.
E então ela perguntou-me sobre o Natal e disse que eu posso ir a casa!! :)
Tereza falou-me de encontros com as pessoas da cidade, que é bom para praticar inglês, para conhecer pessoas e fazer amigos. Ela vai levar-me quando eu começar lá. Ela frequentava aulas de inglês numa escola, e eu também devo ir. Mas só começa em Janeiro, então tenho tempo para decidir.
Ah e ainda não falei dos carros e das estradas. Quando a Aine me foi buscar à estação, eu fui para o lado direito do carro. Foi a primeira vez que entrei num carro do UK e não me lembrei que era do lado contrário. Eu vou ter de conduzir, e posso usar o carro à vontade para coisas pessoais, e vai ser uma aventura habituar-me a conduzir no lado esquerdo da estrada.
Eles jantam super cedo! Eram umas 5.30h/6h quando a Aine nos chamou para a hora do chá. Mas uma Hora do Chá com lasanha! Ah e ontem não conheci o Greg (o pai). Ele trabalha em Londres e não chegou antes de eu sair. A Aine é da Irlanda e o Greg da Escócia, e são um casal muito simpático.
Entretanto chegou a hora de os miúdos fazerem os TPC's e a Tereza levou-me à estação de comboios. No final do dia, voltei a Londres de coração cheio e ansiosa para começar! Eles são muito queridos, acessíveis e atenciosos. Só uma semana, e já lá estou :)
E tenho duas novas palavras do dia: cucumber (pepino) e scooter (que em PT é mota mas aqui é trotinete e todos os miúdos têm uma).
